U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Brigadier General Brings Water and Ecosystems Expertise to CH2M HILL.

November 10, 2003

ATLANTA: Brigadier General Peter T. Madsen has joined CH2M HILL as vice president and program manager for water resources and ecosystem management. Based in CH2M HILL’s Atlanta office, retired Brig. Gen. Madsen will focus on business development and senior oversight to many of the firm’s major ecosystem and water projects.

Madsen’s 28-year career with the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers included leadership and management of flood control, environmental restoration, navigation and military construction projects throughout the Southeast, Southwest, Texas, and Central and South America.

Key projects included the $8 billion Everglades Restoration Program, conceptual design for future Panama Canal expansion, and California’s CALFED Bay-Delta program. Throughout his career, he provided construction and engineering support to more than 70 military installations nationwide and in Department Of Defense contingency operations in Somalia.

“Issues related to water resource and ecosystems management will continue to grow in importance throughout the coming years. I look forward to accessing CH2M HILL’s unique portfolio of professional services to help clients address these challenges,” Madsen said.

“Peter is a tremendous asset to the firm. His experience, knowledge, and customer relationships strengthen our existing areas of expertise and will help CH2M HILL maintain its position as a leader in the environmental industry,” said CH2M HILL Southeast Region Manager Bob Bailey.

Immediately prior to joining CH2M HILL, Madsen was commander and division engineer of the Corps’ South Atlantic Division. His career also included command positions in the South Pacific Division (San Francisco) and the Fort Worth (Texas) District.

Madsen is a fellow in the Society of American Military Engineers and a member of the Association of the U.S. Army, the Army Engineer Association, and the Military Officers Association of America. He also served on the Industry Advisory Board to the Construction Executive Program at Texas A&M University.
A Registered Professional Engineer, Madsen received a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s in Military Strategy from National Defense University, and a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy.
